The historic caisson type light station was first lit in 1873. The cast iron caisson rests upon driven wood piles below the 1.5 story cylindrical keeper quarters with perimeter gallery deck. The cast iron lantern room tops the structure approximately 25 feet above the surface of the water. Only the structure will be conveyed in the sale. No land will be conveyed. The underlying land will remain in government ownership.

DESCRIPTION The property is a historic caisson type light station, first lit in 1873. The cast iron lantern room tops the structure approximately 25 feet above the surface of the water. Only the structure will be conveyed in the sale. No land will be conveyed. The underlying land will remain in government ownership. The buyer will be obligated to acquire and maintain a right of occupancy accordingly.
UTILITIES AND SERVICE PROVIDERS No public utilities are available.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION The Property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (#02001420). A Historic preservation covenant will be incorporated into the Quitclaim Deed. See Document Section for a copy of the Historic Preservation Covenant.
AIDS TO NAVIGATION The Property contains active aids to navigation. These aids shall remain the personal property of the United States. The United States reserves an unrestricted right of ingress and egress to operate, maintain, repair, replace or relocate aids to navigation or add any aids to navigation, any associated equipment, and a 360 degree arc of visibility for said aid(s). PER THE DEED: The United States Coast Guard reserves the following rights and easements:
1- An unrestricted right of ingress and egress, to access the property , including a right of navigational servitude [43 U.S.C section 1311]
2- The unrestricted right of the United States to operate and maintain on the property, all aids to navigation ("atons") on the property, and associated equipment, including all existing buildings.
3- The unrestricted right of the United States to relocate on the property, any and all atons on the property, and associated equipment, to replace and atons, and to make any changes to any portion of the property as may be necessary for navigational purposes.
4- An easement or right of access to the property in favor of the United States for the purpose of servicing, maintaining, operating, repairing and replacing any and all atons, and associated equipment in use on the property now or placed or subsequently relocated thereon. The United States shall have the right to enter the property at any time, with notice, for the purpose of maintaining any and all atons and associated equipment.
5- Easements or rights reserved to the United States for the purpose of perserving and maintaining the arc of visibility of any beacon or other aid to navigation located on the property.
6- The Grantee may not interfere or allow interference in any manner with any navigational aids in use on the property without express written permission from the United States.
